We are very fortunate to have Tasmania's equal oldest national park in our municipality. Its centenary will be celebrated in 2016.

Dick Adams MHR has been kind enough to launch both volumes of the recent Derwent Valley history books we have produced locally.

In 2001 I travelled to England at my own expense to bid for the right to host the 2008 World Gathering of Norfolk and Norwich here in the Derwent Valley. During this interview on BBC Radio Norwich, it was announced that our bid had been successful
